"Zero Treasure" (ゼロの秘宝, Zero no Hihō) is episode 12 of the anime series, The Familiar of Zero.
Summary[]
Louise reports to Henrietta about Wales, and the princess’ wedding has been canceled. Later, Louise warns Osmond about Reconquista, as she learns about Void magic and Gandálfr from him. Despite what had happened, Saito and Louise have a petty argument. Saito leaves and encounters Siesta, who he asks about a "dragon" from another world. Saito goes with Siesta to her home village of Tarbes; afterwards, Louise and others follow them.
After Siesta gives Saito the map showing the location of the "Wings of the Dragon", Kirche, Tabitha, and Guiche, together with their respective familiar spirits, join in going to the location. There, they meet with Professor Colbert and Louise in a cave. As they venture deep in the cave, the group locates the Dragon, which Siesta's family has kept as an heirloom. Surprisingly, Saito finds a tombstone with a Japanese epitaph on it; the Dragon turns out to be an A6M Zero Fighter, a Japanese aircraft used in World War II. It is revealed that Takeo Sasaki, Siesta's great-grandfather, is a Japanese and was magically transported to Halkeginia. Colbert explains that two "dragons" had flown during a solar eclipse, but one disappeared. He suggests that the timing of the second pilot (Sasaki) was off, and that the solar eclipse ended before the second pilot was able to fly through the portal. They conclude that, if the other pilot returned home, then this is Saito's chance to return home as well; Louise is left dumbfounded.
Meanwhile, Henrietta reports to Archduchess Marianne about the conflict following Wales' demise. Marianne informs her that Germania calls of the supposed wedding; they later cut the formality, and Marianne comforts her daughter with the death of the latter's beloved. A messenger brings urgent news to the monarchs.
The group brings the fighter back to the Academy; Saito asks Colbert to give him some of the "dragon's blood", which is actually gasoline, to fuel the aircraft. Later, Guiche informs Louise that Albion has become the New State of the Reconquista and has declared war on Tristain.
In Albion, Cromwell — newly instated as Emperor — seeks loyalty from his cohorts as he marvels at the power of the Ring of Andvari. He states his plan to take over the entire continent, starting with colonizing Tristain in three days' time during the solar eclipse.
