A spell is a magical ability of mages that they utilise either for convenience or in battle. Usually, mages chant respective incantations, but there are some spells that do not require such incantations. Furthermore, most mages need the use of their wands to be able to perform a spell. Hence, it is considered to be a mage's most vulnerable state when he/she is chanting an incantation in performing a spell.
